Posted By Jonathan Breeze I,ve always maintained that any more than seven people in a meeting results in not much actually getting done! But seriously, they seem to have been very fortunate that worse injuries did not occur.

Posted By J Knight According to C Northcote Parkinson nine is the maximum for any effective committee. Does this mean that meeting above the ground floor need a WAHR assessment? Should they have been wearing fall arrest equipment and hard hats? John

Posted By Robert K Lewis The serious item is hidden at the end - Health and Safety officers cleared the rest of the building for continued occupation!!!!!! I actually think this is a job for a structural engineer. Is this a case, again, of poor reporting or, alternatively, one of people overstepping their competency? Even my long experience in construction would not encourage me to make that decision - Call in the experts every time. Bob

Posted By Jonathan Breeze I thought that too Bob, surely if one floor collapsed, what is the state of other floors? However on this occasion, rightly or wrongly, I put it down to the ignorance of the press.

Posted By steve e ashton The Scotsman report of this (page 6, todays date) is even better, since it assumes tnat everyone in the meeting was a 'health and safety delegate' or a 'safety worker' and that the broken ankle belonged to a 'health and safety officer'. So - have we all reviewed our own office risk assessments today?? Joking aside, it apears to have been a lucky and scary escape for all involved!! Steve
