Does anyone nowhere there is a list of fines or punishments for non-compliance. I have just carried out an inspection. (Waste of time) I need to resort to some shock tactics and give some good examples of the above to show what might happen if they don’t have policy, risk assessment, fire extinguisher etc.

Thanks for the help you guys as always

What are you going to do when they are not bothered about the fines (after all you have got to be caught and found guilty before you are fined).

You may wish to consider:
(a) decide what are the top three what need fixing;
(b) a reasonable programme for fixing;
(c) gain support for fixing something

I always try and offer sensilble cost effect solutions to any H+S problems that I find, though mostly this entails me getting all the actions to put things in place. If your in the Luton area you could maybe scare them with the news that the HSE are doing an inspection blitz there

If you look on the HSE www at the prosecutions section as mentioned you will find them all! HOWEVER if you use this to tell your Guvnor that if he does not do this he will be fined £500!!! It just may push him in the opposite direction.

Its never a good idea to use the big stick when trying to get the message across as it is usually a twig! Try another angle, alays good 'improves performance / production / sickness etc.

You are so consistent with your interesting responses; they bring a wry smile to my days.

Take care, and mind the MH on those apple trees!

Put in writing what needs to be done, what can be done immediately at low cost, what needs doing after that and what the maximum impact will be if some of the BIG things go t*ts-up and someone gets hurt.
Get a response, in writing and signed.
Get religion!
