Posted By Jonathan Sandler CMIOSH New documents have been uploaded to the CDM discussion forum group by Cathy Kerby (cathy.kerby@hse.gsi.gov.uk). The implementation date of the revised Construction (Design and Management) Regulations has been the subject of some speculation recently. HSE will today announce that the Regulations will be implemented in the Spring 2007, rather than October 2006. The principal reason for postponing their introduction is to ensure the construction industry has sufficient time to familiarise itself with the revised legislation, and with the supporting Approved Code of Practice (ACoP), before the Regulations come into force. This should also allow the related industry-produced guidance to be co-ordinated and produced in good time, so that there is sound and consistent underpinning of the legislative package. In addition, the extra time will allow HSE to consider, in refining and finalising the package, the findings of research currently being undertaken, by two industry secondees, to address concerns expressed (in particular) by designers and small/occasional clients. A copy of the Press Release will shortly be available on the CONIAC and CDM webcommunities. I hope you find this of interest and answers the question when. Regards
