Posted By artisdeeian To carry out a 'Noise Assessment' survey, Competency is the important word required to perform this task, am I right in thinking this? I actually mean to use the noise level meter with training from an experiencely trained person. I have over ten years in Health and Safety as an advisor to a large company. with commonly introduced cut-backs to many companies, the hierarchy as decided to perform this task 'In-House'. I don't mind doing it but I want to get it right and also be right in compliance with the new regulations.

Posted By Paul Leadbetter Competence is important in any health and safety task. Anyone can wave a noise meter about but the readings will count for nought if the user is not competent. There are courses run under the aegis of BOHS and the Institute of Acoustics which will give you the knowledge; all you will need then is the experience. Paul
