The French ran a survey and came up with 127 job titles for "the safety person"
Can we do any better ?
Real job titles may be posted here, of course, as may the scurrilous. Perhaps the more scatalogical should be e-mailed directly to me.
Merv
(I thought of this earlier in the week but decided to hold it for Friday)

"The IT person" (when assessing a workstation)
Or perhaps she was just referring to my sex appeal

Mmmm, It seems to me that either you all have a low opinion of what you bring to your organisations or there is a very poor culture in you company. Yes it's a hard job to convince some people that you are there for their benifit and welfare because you ask them to do things that are often seen as onurous and a waste of time because they don't understand or its we've always done it this way syndrom. You have to keep at it no matter what they call you. My job title has nothing about safety in it I am a business systems advisor and the company I work for has a policy that safety is an integral partr of our way and method of doing our business, but I still get the questions why do we need to do this? Its a fair question and one you need to be ready to answer.

@ Bob
I don't believe it is us that have the low opinion ,it's our banter and often the titles you see are given by NON Safety people (both Managers and Labour).
What you see is what I hear every day and not just from my company who actually value Safety either.
Thanks AIB ,it was one I heard quite frequently Especially from Managers ,all inspectors I worked with often heard it ;)

We did some canvassing recently to determine what might be the collective noun (you may remember these from school or pub quizes)for a group of safety professionals. The answer came back as "A B***ard of safety advisers".

When our fire advisor sees more than 2 h&s bods he likes to use the collective noun - a confusion of safety advisors. Oh the irony!

Linda...
Just sat here in my office and looked out into my garden and studied a bird.. let me describe it...
It had a petite structure with warming eyes. Short legs... but strutted around boldly. I could hear that it owned a friendly and audible chirp! The thing that made it stand out to me was its well rounded... ok.. it was a Robin so in fear of the moderator slapping me I'll let you guess the rest..
How did I do??
Kindest always..
