Our security suite (as with many like it) is located in the basement of our very larger office building. Needless to say there are no windows, etc, guards working in this area (continual time varies between 8 & 24hrs on some occasions) are experiencing problems with humidity levels, eye soreness, eye strain/fatigue etc.

Has anyone dealt with this type of issue? If yes did you come up with any ingneious solutions to the problems associoated with working 'underground'

Many Thanks M

Hi Monica,

I have experianced difficulties in basement works during construction where contractors brought their own generators etc onto site and fumes were created. In such a situation it is important to ensure that such fumes are vented directly to atmosphere.

Another area to be aware of is hotworks at ground floor level close to vents from underground car parking areas. The measures implemented should prevent sparks entering the vent and basement area.

Hope this answers some of your questions.
