Posted By Andrew Day Hi all i would personaly like to thank all the people who were involved in making IOSH06 possible, this was the first conference i have attended and it was certainly above my expectations. The only downside for me was the SME Toolkit training day, although it was very well presented it was aimed at people with little or no knowledge of health and safety in an SME environment, On booking the toolkit day i was in the understanding that it would be to find out how the systems can be implemented in a sort of "we do it like this" way, not just a slightly detailed overview on HS(G) 65. I am far from an expert just having covered 50% of NVQ Level 4 OHSP and three years experiance, this day was a little like a refresher day that i did not need, i dont want to knock the toolkit session because it was informative to the right people, it was only i when i read the evaluation sheets and noted that the day was for non-professionals, if i had have seen this beforehand then i would not have booked it, still it was my first conference and wont be my last IOSH 07 already in my diary, really enjoyed both informative days, great speakers, great food, great venue thank you IOSH.

Posted By John Mackessack Hi Andrew, Glad you liked it. I'm trying to locate my feedback form the pack to relay to IOSH. This was my second conference. There were many useful sessions but generally I thought the venue to be cold and impersonal, awkward to get to and the entire conference dominated by the public sector, both in attendance and on the rostrum. The 'fit for business' theme was an honourable but the content of much of the agenda was preaching to the converted. Many of the keynote speakers would also benefit from attendance at a presentation skills course. One highlight for me was the presentation on the '5th Dynamic' and being 'in the zone' given by Professor Duncan Christie-Miller, ex Royal Marines officer, natural orator and presenter. Motivating stuff and way too short on time. However, as this was at the very end of conference, it was only of interest and benefit to a 100 or so weary delegates (that I counted) who had bothered stay long enough to make full advantage of the conference fee, which in many cases had been stumped-up by our income taxes. IOSH 07 will have to go some to receive consideration for next year's budget.
