Posted By Nicholas Morris I have heard rumours from a couple of sources that the new Noise at Work Regs may not be launched on 6th April as originally stated, but cannot find anything confirming this. September has been mentioned. hse.gov.uk has nothing. Can anyone help please?

Posted By George Wedgwood Quote from the HSE website on Noise at http://www.hse.gov.uk/noise/information.htm, "The Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005 will come into force on 6 April 2006, with a two year transitional period for the music and entertainment industry until 6 April 2008. When the new UK regulations are introduced on 6 April 2006, they will repeal the existing Noise at Work Regulations 1989"

Posted By Nicholas Morris Thanks for the feedback. I too have checked the HSE website and seen nothing has changed, with 6 April still mentioned. The delay rumour has come from other sources and I'm asking if anyone has heard anything similar or can provide anything more concrete.

Posted By Jonathan Carrick Point taken. I definitely haven't heard any rumours. Do you think its possible that someone has got confused by the fact that the introduction in the the music and entertainment industry is not until 2008? Could be a classic case of "chinese whispers". Jon

Posted By Nicholas Morris Jon, don't think it was confusion over the exceptions- September/ October was mentioned, along with delays to introduction of the new Fire Regs to about the same time!

Posted By Will Smith Noise I can only deduct from the previous quotes that the confusion is that the new Noise Regulations have been put back before and will be introduced 6th April as stated: http://www.iosh.co.uk/in...iew&Forum=1&Thread=12400 Fire Here is a link from the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister which states the New Fire Regulation will come into force on the 1st October 2006. http://www.odpm.gov.uk/i...02882&PressNoticeID=2089 I find this site a good source of information before it becomes common knowledge. Hope this is of some help.

Posted By John Mac Carthy I would equally agree, warmth V laziness V increased risk of incident. Fresh air keeps the screens demisted also and will encourage breaks outside the cab (whole body vibration etc). Only question is are your workforce from a warmer climate? Is the world becoming a softer place and us helping it along???
