Hi all,
I have recently become a manual handling instructor in Ireland. The problem is that the presentation material I was given was not very satisfactory. Especially the slides showing correct lifting techniques. I purchased a couple of presentations on ebay, but again these presentations were not very good. I have done many google searches trying to get appropriate material but to little avail.
Can anyone advise.
PS If anyone can recommend a good DVD, please do.

Damien,
I use a DVD called "Childs Play" which shows how children lift before they learnt bad habits. It lasts about 6 minutes and always goes down well at my training courses. The version I use is workshop based but I believe there is a very similar one which is office based. They can be obtained from a company called Safetycare. If you need more information please e-mail,
regards
Phil

If you're offering safety training about manual handling, you are strongly - very strongly - advised to understand the ergonomics as well as the bio-mechanical issues involved.
www.humanfocus.co.uk provide good illustrative videos and DVDs.
If you want some guidance on selecting and/or creating reading materials, you are welcome to phone me on 00 3531 8654 0808

Hi mate,
i was in a similar situation a few months ago. after trail and error with a few thigs I came up with my own presentation using power point.
I went around my work place with a digital camera and took photos of people carrying out manual handelig tasks then down loaded them. you can then import them onto your power point slides.
