Does there have to be a risk assessment purely for Man. handling or is it sufficient to cover manual handling issues relevant to a process/task within each specific RA?

What you need to do sometimes depends on the inspector who visits you, however no one can criticise you if you have adequately addressed all the relevant aspects of the risks involved in manual handlingm given them a "measurement" such as high medium low, and then made suggestions of how the risk could be reduced - you can present alll of this in whatever form suits you so long as it is readable.
Risk assessment is nothing more than showing your workings out (as we were always told in secondary school algebra)
Successful risk assessment is measured by the efficacy of the controls you put in place.

Thanks everyone.
I think what I've got is suficient going by your comments. I cover the man handling issues that are relevant to each department in their specific RA's so everyone carrying out the tasks know what's involved.
