Posted By Frank Macleod Gary, I am not 100% sure what you mean by layout but let me just say that as you carry out an assessment of an area, ensure you have a floor plan at hand, which will allow you to number each sample point on the floor plan as you carry out your assessment. You can note your findings for each specific sample point in a two column table as part of your report for easy reference by interested parties. Also remember to include a section at the beginning of your report detailing the type of equipment you are using and the calibration details. Hope this has been of some help and may prompt others amongst us to offer further assistance. Regards Frank Macleod (CMIOSH)

Posted By Jeremy Carter Gary If you are doing a noise ASSESSMENT be advised it isn't the same thing as a noise SURVEY or noise MEASUREMENTS. Many people fall into the trap of doing lots of measurements & do not relate them to what the Regs actually want i.e. an assessment of whether the task/s carried out by the operative will exceed Exposure Levels. The consultancy I work for has had dealings with HSE and they are happy with what we do as we do relate our site noise readings to actual operative exposures. Can I suggest you get hold of L108 Controlling Noise at Work? Pages 37 to 50 are what you wnat I would suggest!
