Hi,
I am looking for some information on these. One of the employees at my company have raised a complaint in relation to these. they say the bags are too heavy and request that they be provided with a wheelie bag (trolly).
Is there anything out there that i can check up on this ? Has my company any requirements in providing alternate bags depending on the person ?
Any help would be great.
thanks,
Philip

As manual handling risk assessments can be specific to the individual, you may well find that shoulder straps do not suit everyone.

aside from moving and handling their are security risks ascociated with visible laptob bags. In some instances using a rucksack to carry the equipment in will give better protection from both Hazards.

Also check your employees are just carrying the laptops in the bags.
We had a similar complaint, which on investigation revealed that the employee was also loading up with documentation and paperwork in the same bag.

As somone who frequently travels with a laptop plus other equipment I generally use a rucksack. Much more comfortable and less strain. However, if you are going to provide them with a rucksack make it a condition that they use both straps. Just stand at any airport/railway station and count the number of people using a rucksack with just the one shoulder strap in use!
