Posted By Carrie Ellerby Are there any legionella experts out there? I was just wondering the likelihood of legionella contaminated aerosols travelling for distances over 100m. I believe that some cases have been found but how common is it and to what extent (distance wise) would it have to be considered in a cooling tower risk assessment? Carrie

Posted By col if you are talking about 100 metres then yes legionella can travel these distances if the prevailing winds allow. If there is an outbreak of legionella the HSE normally check all cooling towers within a 0.5 mile radius of the alleged area
