During a discussion about accessing light fittings inside buildings someone mentioned that there were maintenance people who had used stilts of some sort to access light fittings in ceilings.
As it was not so long ago that industrial abseiling was not heard of I thought I would ask forum readers as it is not April 1st....

David,
not an April fools gag, stilts have been used in a number of industries, namely plasterers who plaster ceilings. I carried out a risk assessment concerning stilts a number of years ago and found them to be innapropriate because: firstly the persons centre of gravity changes, secondly if they fall, because they are strapped in at the ankle they are more likely to break a leg. And now with the WAHR where would you put the 360 degree hand rail protection and toe boards? Basically I dont allow them to be used on my projects. but I am sure others have assessed the risk differently.
Regards
Steve B
