Serious question.
I have been asked to drive a PCV for a youth outreach organisation. They will undoubtedly have the tax, MOT and MV insurance sorted, but I doubt they have risk assessments, safe working procedures or any documents for inspections checks and the like.
We will be targeting young people in the community (no offence to old people - I'm one).
The bus will have facilties for preparing hot drinks and possibly cold snacks.
It will have gas bottles, fresh water supply, seating for around 20 persons, generator for electrical gear.
We will be parking it in housing areas, primarily by areas used by youngsters for chillin'.
I suggested they contact police, local authority, residents associations and businesses.
I have a PCV and will be covered by their insurance, but I'm not so sure if I'll be covered if I should be attacked or sustain other injury.
Now then - anybody been involved with anything similar?
Anybody got anything I can plagiarise? It's for a good cause.

Been on hol or I would have responded earlier. Are you being employed by the outreach organisation or is it voluntary, or sub-contracted. If you are doing it in the course of your job, your employer's public and employers liability will cover you if your get attaccked (provided they know what you are doing). However, the object is not to get that far. I work for Connexions, and we have both our own mobile unit (a big bus!)as well as hiring or using either private mini-buses or those of other organisations - so we tend to have risk assessments coming out of our ears. Are you working or volunteering?? Like Annette need further details before further advice can be given. Dont own our own bus but have had our workers working on other agency community buses and had incidents of stone throwing
