Posted By JAI Just my luck I parked my car this morning in the staff car park, turned the engine off, opened the door just about to exit vehicle and felt an almighty thud Turns out our projects manager who was in the office at the time had a defective handbrake and his nice car rolled into mine causing slight damage I think the highlight for the other staff was seeing two safety bods in this predicament Thank god it’s Friday tomorrow Jai

Posted By Lynne Ratcliffe Jai I can imagine that their mirth came a close second to my lot when i turned up with a wrist that i had broken using a pickaxe! and then with a new plaster as i broke the first plaster unblocking drains! Why can we not get away with these little tests of life?

Posted By Helen Horton Got one to beat the lot of you! Checking the Tannoy system with the Tannoy Engineer - it's a darkish late January afternoon so rather gloomy. "Look", shouts the Engineer, "the reason why you can't hear anything in this building is because of the broken wire hanging done from the cable rack". Not being able to see so well in the semi-darkness I took a few steps forward, looking up into the night sky. Wallop - thump, I fell down a low curb on the external roadway and ended up sitting on my left hand with the thumb hanging over the edge of the curb. I got up stuffed my injured hand in my pocket and soldiered on. Half hour later the hand is so swollen that the pocket had to be cut open to get my hand out - result torn tendon, broken scaphoid bone!!

Posted By Charley Farley-Trelawney Walked into the boardroom slating the H&S awareness of our Managing Director who just happened to be on a conference call to two fellow Directors, and I went in at a quiet moment; thinking all was fine, I burst into a four letter flurry of explanatives and to my surprise guess whose voice I heard at the other end???? Of to the careers forum later this week. VERY SKILLED H&S PERSON WHO HAS PUT FOOT FIRMLY IN IT. Or something like that, it remains to be seen if he has a SOH! CFT

Posted By Linda Crossland-Clarke Hi I can't beat that! However, when I was in a multistory car park, I had a car pull out of a parking bay and block my exit. Then I realised it didn't have its parking break on. Myself and a collegue jumped out and prevented it from ramming another line of parked cars. A bit of car handling later we got it back in its parking bay and chocked its wheels with some company promotional coasters with our number etc on. Ungreatful so n so never did ring up to thank us! Posted By Merv Newman Last job interview I went to, greenfield construction site and plant start up, I waited at hotel for prospective boss to come for me. Heard him ask for me at desk and struggled to my feet. Horrified look on his face as he saw prospective H&S manager on crutches. Broken achilles tendon during squash match with best mate. Actually it wasn't so much of an interview more as a sort of plea. "pleasepleaseplease will you be our H&S manager ? The first three all had nervous breakdowns" Met the site manager and diagnosed the problem : Extremly demanding and blaming person. BTDTGT Tee shirt. Got the physio but had a limp until I broke the other one. Gardening. That evened things out ok but I don't recommend it. I'm still here, but he is looong gone. Oh. and one LTI in ten years for 500 employees. (André, 03h30 5th march 1984. And I can still see the picture of André and the ambulance guys, in the infirmary with blood down the side of his head. That WILL NOT happen again on my watch) A Gordon Ramsey recipe tonight. Choux pastry with bacon bits and parmesan cheese. Dead easy and delicious. Boc choi and tomato side salad with balsamic vinegar. (or whatever you've got in the fridge) Thanks Gordy. White bordeaux (again. Ho hum) Merv

Posted By Bill Fisher Once again this Thread could have developed in a "safety" related manner, wheras it is being used to see who can better the last story - but with no learning points. And to top it of some poster are straying not only away from safety but also away from the original slant. The Thread has now been locked.
