Posted By Craig Hutchison Hello All I work with an M&E services contractor and we have recently set up a working at height group to establish suitable and practicable solutions to step ladders. Some current solutions have been low level podium scaffolds etc , which are good but are only suitable for open areas and generaly only give you one working height. If anyone is using new equipment or has used some thing that might be worth a trail for us , i would very much appreciate any details many thanks

Posted By Patrick Phillips There a many options to your problem. Why don't you try Youngmans they manufacture a vaste range of equipment from simple odd job step ups to specialist podiums, towers, ladders etc. They were at the Health and Safety Expo - NEC this week with adverts in the safety magazines Pat

Posted By Alan Hoskins I was lookng at the equipment at the NEC myself this week and the impression I went away with was that the 'safer' alternatives for working at quite low heights were often quite large and cumbersome and difficult to access when compared to a simple stepladder. This could mean that they would likely not be used in preference to steps in a range of situations without strict rules (and adherance to them), and a danger of reversion to the more 'convenient' use of the stepladder in many cases... Posted By David Tilsley-Curtis Craig I hope I have understood you correctly as there is a slight difference between a podium and a tower, sorry to be a pedant. There are a couple of folding tower bases which are able to give working heights between say 400-500mm up to 2 metre. The side guardrails are movable and end guardrails are additional above a certain level. Applogise if these are the same as the items you have already tried. I can forward you some details if it would be of help. David
