Posted By Merv Newman This is one of my favourite questions when training managers. Ask them what X on a chemical lable means. Then remind them that there are Xi (irritant) and Xn (noxious or mildly toxic)Then ask what PPE is appropriate for each. Then ask them (if not chemical industry) what is the most dangerous chemical they are likely to encounter in their lives, and where is it stored ?. (usually something they keep under the kitchen sink) Final question : what PPE is worn when you, your spouse or your child is using this chemical ? Makes 'em think Merv

Posted By Martin Hartland I thought the n was for nocif, French for harmful, and the i for irritant, also French but spelt the same in English. I'll stand corrected. Martin
