I'd appreciate in advance.

Wrapped around the thread, it will help to ensure a gas-tight seal when you attach the pipework to the bottle.

Commonly know to engineers as thread tape.

Saves having to grease the oxygen valve. DONT !
I'm not sure that teflon tape adds much on brass or bronze fittings.

Stanley,
Where the connections are taper threads there may be a case for tape, although I would recommend only pure PTFE tape known to be suitable for oxygen service.
When connections are parallel threads and designed to fit together the gas seal is made on a gasket, ferrule, o-ring or bull-nose surface. If the connection still leaks there is a scratched surface or missing gasket or broken o-ring or a design fault or a number of other reasons. You might fix the leak with tape but you should question why you need to. Never use it "just in case" and never on the the main parallel thread of the gas bottle, if only because tape fragments can break off and enter your regulators etc.

Special tape must be used for high pressure oxygen, ie for hyperbaric medicine or commercial diving

I thought the use of PTFE tape was to reduce friction between the threads and thus enable the joint to be tightened more than it could be without the tape.
