Curious about anyone's opinion of using thermography as part of fixed wire testing.

Hi Andrew
The organisation I work for(chemicals manufacturer)has now made this compulsory as part of the safety maintenance systems. I believe it was driven by the insurers.
We had it carried out at our site and it did pick up several minor defects - usualy loose electrical connections etc.
One site we own in East Yorkshire had a major fire thought to be caused by an electrical fault and had not got around to having thermographic imaging carried out - it may have saved them a lot of grief and quite a bit of cash.
I think it largely depends on your organisation. If you have extensive electrical systems, quite a bit of machinery and relatively old systems (that's us!) I would definitely recommend it.
