Posted By Alibop Hi I wonder if anyone could advise me. As a lot of people on here Im sure, I think am being drastically underpaid.. Does anyone have any idea what the going rate is for someone who has Nebosh cert, P405 Asbestos Management, P402 Asbestos Surveying and Nebosh Diploma (Level 4) Any ideas would be appreciated... Just wondering whether to look elsewhere or get more qualifications before looking.. Thanks

Posted By Dave Wilson Depends on which part of the country, but I would suggest in the region of £25 - £30k if you are using all the qualifications but if only using your P402 then about £18 - £25k.

Posted By John Thorley Alibop, I have very similiar qualifications to yourself and i agree with the comments that you can command between £25,000 - £30,000, however i believe that experience plays a major part when employers are looking to recruit a safety professional. If you have a number of years experience in your respective field you become more marketable and can command a higher salary. John

Posted By ITK The going rate is whatever an employer is willing to pay. Take a look in the SHP and see salaries ranging from £20K to £50K.

Posted By garyh I think you are looking at this from the wrong angle - in my experience you get paid for responsibility, not qualifications. People who "build" their qualifications and responsibilities in the job seem to find it harder to get a decent salary. If in doubt, leave and get that better paid job elsewhere. Then, no doubt "they" will have to replace you with someone on a higher salary!

Posted By Stephen Bridgehouse Whatever you do don't work for a local authority unless you want to be totally under valued and under paid.
