Hi there, great forum and apologies for asking a question so quickly, but am a bit worried.

On Tuesday last week the flat next to mine was fumigated at approximately 1.30pm. I went home for lunch and sat down in the lounge at this time. All of a sudden my eyes started watering, inside my nose was very itchy and throat was also itchy. I thought it was a sudden attack of hayfever, but swiftly came to the conclusion it was the pest control people next door, which I had seen upon entering my flat.

I quickly ran out of my flat where I then saw 2 pest control people in white boiler suits and full face mask taping up next door's door.

Scary! I was coughing and spluttering.

For 2 days after the inside of my nose was very sore.

Anyway, I called the pest control people and they said it was nothing to worry about. They also provided a work sheet which detailed the method of fumigation and chemicals used:

The chemical or fumigant used was 'ULV STINGRAY ME HSE 7685'

Ready to use insectidide containing 4.85% alpha-cypermethrin, 4.78% Tetramethrin, 1.9% Pyriproxyfen and 13% piperonyl Butoxide, Synergised Pyrethroides.

The method of fumigation was done using a B and G Fogger ULV system.

Any help or advide would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Paul,

Cheers

If you are concerned, then it would be a good idea, I think; take a copy of the MSDS with you.

If your concerned about the fact that the chemical used was allowed to gain access to your flat, have you considered informing the HSE who may wish to investigate a complaint?

Yes, I was a bit annoyed that the chemical was allowed to seep into my flat. How would I make a complaint?

Thanks,

Mike

Don't go to the HSE go to the LA EH Dept as they are the people who would investigate

Just to clarify - report to HSE, LA do not enforce H&S in residential premises and its a peripatetic activity (also HSE)
