Hi All,
I am currently writing a training course for maintenance personnel required to work at height.
I have the majority of the course completed which includes information on the relevant regulations and safe use of ladders (although this is avoided where possible). We also have an access cage attachment for a FLT which is to be used on rare occasions and I have included the SSOW we have designed from our risk assessment and training on using the restraining harness required.
Is there any other info I need to include in this? or has anybody got a presentation they would be willing for me to have a look at.
Many Thanks,
Scott

You can download the 'new' version of PM 28 (3rd edition, Dec 2005) 'Working platforms (non integrated) on fork lift trucks' from the HSE web site.
This gives lots of useful info (I did not realise that these cages should not be CE marked!) and we based our training around this document.
Hope this helps.
Best regards
Andy

Thanks Andrew,
Yes, apparently there use are outlawed in some member countries and therefore can not receive the CE markings!

Might seem a bit obvious but don't let contractors use your FLT's for any jobs at height (or anything else).
But its cheaper cries production.
Not when they burn halfway through a hose and leave it back as a "booby trap" for your employees.
Nuff said. Good luck
Jeff
