Hi, I hope some of you out there are able to help me as I am struggling to find answers. I work for a largish company and have instigated toolbox talks over the years to great effect. I have been asked by the management to refresh them, but as always with management they are not sure what they want. They don’t want what they have got, despite their popularity and effectiveness, but hey that’s management for you!
Has anyone got any good ideas as to how I can refresh them as other than cue cards, PowerPoint’s, and A5 handbooks, none of which they currently like I am clueless. Is anyone using anything that works well for them?

I wouldn't consider powerpoints or the like to be an acceptable method of presenting toolbox talks. They are generally a briefing for the workforce prior to commencing work. Dig out your R/A's Operational Safety Controls or whatever you have, hand each operative a copy and talk them through it making sure that the information is understood and will be complied with. I share David's reservations about the methods you refer to for 'toolbox talks' as they are commonly more assocaited with 'presentations'.
There's are mobile visual aids present at every toolbox talks, which can be used with reference to hazards to every part of these mobile visual aids.
You can carry out resarch, in-company, in libraries and online, into hazards and risks to each part of these mobile visual aids and summarise the research on pocket-size cards which you can distribute.
Your company has already paid for these mobile visual aaids.
They are called 'human bodies and brains'.

Judging from your comments you seem quite happy with your existing TBTs, therefore you might consider adding a Q&A to them. Ths will help you guage how much your staff have actually taken in and then do a benchmark exercise. The different slant might just be enough for your fickle management.
