Posted By SD Hi All, A quick one for ladder experts. In the company I work for in Ireland there is a significant amount of employees working at heights. we are in the middle of rolling out training. The company is also about to purchase ladder accessories(stabilising equipment), these accessories have been trialled by a sample of employees and they are been incorporated in the training. Ladders have standards but the accessories dont, so there is a question mark over using the equipmentfron some managers . My thoughts are the equipment will be reducing the risk of falling from height and so its better to use the accessories, any opinions welcome.

Posted By Martin Daly I would just like to point out that the Working at height regs have not come in yet in Ireland. They will be in the near future. They will be very simular to the UKs but not exactly the same. Good luck Martin Daly

Posted By Ali Ladder stabilising devices are not strictly "access equipment" and this may be the reason why they do not have a "standard" unlike ladders, towers, scaffold, MEWP etc..In the absence of this check that they carry a CE mark, although it is not a guarantee of safety. As a last resort get your local HSE inspector to make use of s6 of HASWA 1974 ? Ali
