My organisation is advocating hot desk arrangements for a number of employees and whilst there are clearly a number of safey related issues to be considered I wonder if any one has any links to papers or other material relating to this. Any help gratefully received.

If you search the HSE website, you should be able to locate about 30 references.

I have been involved with an organisation that has a lot of hot desking, and I can't think of one member of staff that would opt to keep it given the opportunity. Storage space, workstation set up and no fixed abode, generally has added to stress levels and a breach of DSE and workplace regs.
Give me a shout if you want to chat.

We use hot desking in all our offices - it wasnt the most popular choice to start with but employees have come to realise we have no option where they do not require a desk all day every day. I have a very good document from the London Chamber of Commerce which covers most of the pertinent points which you may find useful (can let you have a copy) or contact them direct. We do blind assessments on the hot desk workstations and then assess individuals with special requirements separately. E.mail me if you want further information
