We have just had one of our employees taken off site in an ambulace after suffering a possible heart attack (the first aider coudnt get him going). He wasnt working at the time but on rest break so Riddor applies in my view.

I have already reported it to the RIDDOR reporting centre but do I need to contact the Police?

The Police may turn up anyway- the Ambulancec Control usually send them a message to attend incidents.

Might be worth dropping them a call just to be certain though

RIDDOR does not apply as no accident is involved just a medical condition. I think the hospital will take care of any further contacts such as Coroner if necessary and next of kin etc.

Yes conselling will definatley be helpful. I will ask our Occy health nurse for some recommendations.

You're welcome. Never an easy issue to deal with . . . you may even find that you need some counselling yourself after everything has settled down and you "draw breath".

No Problem - hope everything ends well for all involved.

Not wishing to teach granny etc but might be worth jotting events down in a report just in case and use this to formulate a procedure if you haven't one in place that details actions and who to contact during this kind of incident
