Hi I need to get CSCS cards for all of our employees, but my director does not want to pay an external training organisation to provide the CSCS awareness training.
Does anyone therefore have a powerpoint presentation that they have used for CSCS awareness training that they would be willing to share, so that I can deliver the training internally?
Any offers accepted.
Many thanks for your assistance.

It is recommended that each employee wishing to undertake the health and safety test recieves H&S awareness training covering the CSCS syllabus beforehand.
Food for Thought!!!!!!
Are you a CITB approved training provider as i am sure the CSCS Dept will check the authenticity of the certificates issued with each application for the health and safety test.

Thank you David
I do understand that, but there is no requirement for any awareness training to be carried out by CITB registered tutors. My director does not see the reason why we should have to pay CITB rates for awareness training that could be undertaken in-house.
What I am looking for is something on which to base the awareness training that we are looking to carry out.
Many thanks

If you are you talking about CITB skill cards, designed for workers at all levels to demonstrate their trade then its CITB you have to use.Alternatively a H&S awareness passport designed to demonstrate basic generic qualification and I believe offered by about 20 providers including IOSH working safely. The key for the latter is compliance with INDG381 and a moderated process so you can shop arround for the best deal. SHP contained letters on the subject April & May.

Daniella, I deliver these types of course for the CITB. You do not need to have an awareness course pre testing. I suggest to my clients who are in your situation that they purchase the CD Rom (£12.00) containing all the questions and the model tests and use this as a training tool. Alternatively purchase a GE707. Both available from the CITB Publications, both reasonably priced and exceptional value.

As far as I am aware you do not need to sit a course before sitting the CSCS card test, but its advisable to do so. What you do not need to do is pay CITB rates as you suggest, the course can be run by any consultancy/trainer/individual.. Happy to help you off line in terms of price if you wish.

Don't forget also that without the appropriate NVQ a CSCS card will not be issued. The easy way is as others have said - train them to the answer book and they will pass. Doesn't mean they are competent though - just that they know some answers.
I could ramble on about the word "awareness" just what does it mean? For me it is meaningless, if I tell you that fire extinguishers are primarily red I have increased your awareness if you did not already know it. For me, and my views are well known, the CSCS scheme as now run is past its sell by date and I am aware of a lot of discontent with it. The report to the HSE on competence by John Carpenter recognised its limited value for H&S. The real problem is that H&S professionals are outside of the process. This is a discussion that has already been trawled many times on these forums.

Thanks for all the responses from everyone.
I fully appreciate the NVQ and job competence side of the CSCS cards and this is being dealt with by our HR manager.
I have however been instructed that the Directors want to provide an in-house H&S Awareness Training scheme for all employees, this will be done in small groups (6-12 at a time) and will also include a selection of Key Subbies.
I am therefore just looking for something that will assist me in the delivery of some basic awareness training.

Daniella,
When I discussed training with CSCS some months agao, they said that training was not necessary, as the touch screen test has a 99.9% pass rate, and questions are multi-choice. Unless it has changed
