Posted By Stewart Fullarton Good Morning, Just after some quick advice - our company will close at the end of this month with regards manufacturing and will remain open as a distribution centre. Our company is Taiwanese owend, there will be three people left in the plant. These being a senior accountant and two warehouse / maintenance guys. The question asked was who would have the overall responsibility for H&S ??????? My take on it would be that the senior accountant is responsible for the day to day safety and must ensure those remaining comply with regulations - but overall accountability lies with the head office in Taiwan and that they should sign the companies safety policy ???? Am i heading in the right direction ??? Thanks Stew

Posted By Sean Fraser Stew, I would agree with your assessment of the situation - responsibility lies ultimately with the senior management in Taiwan, but local responsibility lies with whoever they have appointed as their representative in the UK. Who signs the policy depends on who the policy is aimed at - if it is only for the UK facility/ies, then the most senior UK representative should sign it. If it is intended to be blanket policy across the whole organisation, then the most senior person in the organisation should sign it.
