Posted By milesredhead I am planning on putting together a Manual handling instructor course. I am fine with the manual handling content, but could do with some pointers for the instruction technique. Anyone have any ideas where to look (ie publications / net) etc Many Thanks

Posted By Jerry Lucey It sounds as though you know your subject well, however I am not sure about reading or researching training techniques. I have found that the best way to develop your training techniques is by undertaking a Train the Trainer course. There are several available in Manual Handling. They will train you on the correct/ most effective techniques, demonstrates these and gives you the opportunity to practice them and build up your confidence. Hope this helps.

Posted By Bunny The C&G 7307 is a good course but takes a year to complete so in the meantime I would also recommend the CIEH professional Trainers Certificate. If you go on the CIEH website and put in the course and your location it will give you the names of all local course providers. It will take usually four evenings over a four week period. The cost really varies from venue to venue (from £350 to £120 in my area) so you may want to look around. Good luck!

Posted By 9-Ship Try C&G 7302 - this is the earlier course to 7307. 7302 takes 17 weeks (each of 3hr sessions), just cost me £120. You only need to do 7307, if you are seriously considering being a full time trainer, if like most safety bods you only do training 'as & when' I think 7302 is adequate teacher training. 7302 still covers lesson planning, assessing learners needs etc. Try your local college of further education.
