Has a policeman or fireman etc ever sued a person for negligence?
e.g. policeman suffers an injury from a person during a riot or a fireman gets injured trying to fight a fire that was caused by someone smoking in bed.

I recall way back in the past that this has happened somewhere. I may be wrong but it will probably have occured in the US first though.

Are you thinking of the IP whos ues the first aider for failing to apply first aid properly?
I preusme any claim involving the fire or police would be a civial claim but as all firefighters and police are required to attend such incidents as it is in their job or line of duty and dont think they could.
Presumably it would have to be the organisation that would take action against an individual for waisting police time, starting a fire and not the individual who was working for the respective force.
That and these organisations have insurance cover for their personel whilst attending these incidents I presume.

Here is something ive found this afternoon,
Firemans Rule.
This rule, in jurisdictions which accept it, states that people who are employed as rescuers in a professional capacity-firemen, coastguards etc- have no action in negligence against people who create the danger they seek to allieviate. THERE IS NO FIREMANS RULE IN ENGLISH LAW; a fireman who is injured while rescuing a person from a fire that was caused negligently can sue the person who caused the fire.
I wonder if this has been tested in Law? I cant find any cases.
