Posted By Roy Scott2 anyone any experience with a forklift employee wanting to wear shorts in a non chemical warehouse.He drive different MHE and does some lifting of cartons now and then. i cant find any reason why he shouldn't??? any ideas?????????

Posted By Glyn Atkinson Assess the job in full while he is doing it on site. Video if necessary as proof of review and assessment, particularly good if watching continuous manual handling operations. If you feel that no significant risk is posed by the request to wear shorts, then you have also considered his personal welfare as well as the job process. Keep it real, reasonable and straight forward would be my advice, depending on your particular work area and processes.

Posted By Ali The shorts & work activity would need to be risk assessed. The shorts should be comfortable to wear, hard- wearing,not too tight / baggy and comply with Company Uniform policy. The other matter to consider is whether it is provided as PPE, since it may not comply. Ali
