Hi All,
I have been advised that flammable cupboards must be stored against an outside wall and although we do currently do this, I have never come across this fact.
Can someone please confirm or deny this for me.
Many Thanks,
Scott

I've not heard of that before; can you ask the person who told you on what basis they have given that advice?

Try the excellent reference HSG 51 "The storage of flammable liquids in containers".

For many years I used to work in a large manufacturing site employing 4000+ employees. There were several large buildings on the site which housed varying manufacturing activities.
It was common practice for flammable cupboards to be stored around the outside of the workshops.
As the cupboards should be stored away from ignition sources and combustible materials it was decided that it would be easier to control the storage area when they were against an outside wall.
If they were sited, for example, in the middle of production activities it was thought to be more difficult to control combustibles, hot work, and other ignition sources.
I've never seen it written down in guidance (although it maybe somewhere) it was just taken as good practice.

I know it is an old chestnut, so I apologise in advance, but conduct a Risk Assessment, and if siting against an outside wall presents lowest risk, Bob's your uncle! That is how the previous poster will have arrived at their decision (manufacturing plant).
