Is anyone familiar with doing a risk assessment for a local fishing club on their pond / lake?
The site is already fenced and padlocked.
It seems the local council has asked for a risk assessment doing of the area.
Hope someone can help.

There are some muppets in local councils who way over react. Have they ever been to the Lake District or to Scottish Lochs?? Angling is a leisure activity done by choice be people who are responsible for their own safety. Things like this brings accusations of safety nazis against us.......heigh ho. I speak as a weary committee member of an angling club. Soap box bit over.

Basically I would look at the obvious things like water safety but also consider things like blue green algae, flying hooks, rats, litter, discarded fishing gear and so on. Watch out for overhead power cables too.
Good luck!

Garyh - probably the same safety muppets who would investigate a fatality when an angler contacts overhead power lines, or is berated for failing to identify that un-supervised toddlers may fall into lakes/ponds. Un-fortunately we all know where this stems from - have a walk down your high street and see how many no win no fee bods you bump into
