It was about radiation and there is now evidence that potentially shows that the health risks from low doses of radiation may not be as great as is currently thought.

Arran,
not only that but 'exposure to low level radiation, over time, may be beneficial on countering the onset of cancers'....very interesting....however, I might have to wait for more studies, and preferably not USA funded ones (big business)afore I start drinking radiated water!

Definitely food for thought, especially the findings that low levels of radiation may even be beneficial by stimulating the body's defences. More research needed I think but I wonder, no matter how much research is done, if people will ever get over their, some times irrational, fear of radiation? Just look at some of the mobile phone stories floating about.

You can't beat a bottle of Windscale water a day.
It saves a fortune in electricity not having to use a bedside light to read.
(Well it is Friday)

Excellent link to the BBC. Very interesting arguments and claims made.
Isn't the timing very convenient? What with Mr Blair trying to make the argument for new nuclear power plants.......

Careful John,
Dodgy assumptions about cause and effect is how conspiracy theories start.
What is more probable is that the statement and the programme occurred independently and a wily Horizon editor then decided to run the programme at this moment in time because the current public awareness would guarantee higher ratings.
The Government were probably not involved at all, that would be far too competent and slick of them!
PS - Thanks all for the link.

It does have a sort of common-sense in that the radiation is acting similar to vaccines ... if the data are correct (remember the correlation between motor cars and lung cancer proposed by the tobacco chiefs?)
Oh well, wait another year and there'll be another theory along...
