Posted By Mick Proctor Could anyone point me in the right direction to indicate where it states that lifting beams have to be painted yellow.

Posted By Mick Proctor Thank you for your responses. This was a question I was asked and could not confidently respond to. I am aware that LOLER only mentions SWL and colour coding, but as the majority of static lifting beams are seen to be painted yellow I was not sure. I would like to think that ALL questions asked in this forum are important to the person asking the question and sarcastic responses only bring down the professional approach that hopefully we all aim for.

Posted By Andy Walker How sad that someone requests information from a supposedly "professional" forum and recieves sarcasm and derogatory comments. What a good light it portrays us all in. Shame on you Andy W

Posted By Peter MacDonald Mick I don't believe there is any stipulation on colour in any of the regulations having just hired a 16t spreader beam from Lifting Gear Hire that was green. If you phone a local branch of LGH they will (in my experience) only be too happy to sort you out with the info you need. Peter

Posted By terryt I worked in an engineering company for some years. There were overhead cranes, lifting beams, etc. They were always yellow with black lettering - I was always under the impression it was to be inline with the hazard warning colours of yellow/black. I've never seen the colours specified anywhere, and like others I have also seen others colours used since.
