I liked flight of the Pheonix;- no stop laughing there is a lot of mileage in teamwork, planning, reviewing performance, shared goals and effective management.
Why always show them something that has gone badly wrong? Do you want them to get better at what they do or give them a good fright?

Kegworth example is fine in terms of looking at issues such as human factors, crew co-operation etc - but remember aircraft operations/flight safety operations etc are way outside the remit of the health and safety at work act etc.
Such activities are also not regulated by the HSE, but the CAA.
Aircraft engineers sort of exist in a midway position - regulated by the CAA for many 'on aircraft maintenance activities' but also by normal H&S in terms of welfare facilities, safety policies, general hangar facilities etc.
A few years back I wrote to the CAA, seeking clarification where their remit took over from the HSE. I just got a bland reply - i.e. they weren't sure.....
I believe things have no moved on and there is a protocol agreement between the HSE & CAA/airlines etc.
However, I have not been too involved with aircraft maintenance of late - so things may be different a bit more.
That's my bit after 10yrs safety experience and 12yrs aircraft engineering maintenance experience.

2 Qs: What sort of course? What type of maintenance: Line or base or both?
Be aware that the European Aviation Safety Agency requirements for maintenance organisations ('Part 145') require that human factors training is delvered to all staff involved in maintenance by 28 sept this year. This might be a spingboard for basing some types of training.
