Posted By IOSH Web Manager Merv, Hazel Harvey here (with plastic bag in Aberdeen Airport at the moment). Sorry if we have troubled you with this call for entries to our Awards. Although we have posted in SHP and on this web-site for members to enter this award we have had little response so we bit the bullet and contacted directly members about this. Unfortunately we couldn't distinguish members who may be eligible so we had to contact you all. It isn't spam it is a genuine member communication as we would like entries from people who became MIOSH during 2005. Hazel Harvey Director of Professional Affairs

Posted By Merv Newman Hazel, thankyou for your reply, as courteous and informative as always. I don't mind mass communications from yourself and your colleagues on matters even remotely relevant to myself. However this one looked too much like spam messages such as "you may be qualified for a prize" that it provoked a similar reaction. And part of the definition of "spam" is "indiscriminate mailing" which, as you say, it was. Hope you had a good flight, without too much delay Merv
