I am looking at producing, a presentation on the up and coming possible changes in legislation for the above, to deliver to directors and senior management within my company. The aim to focus their repsonsibility and raise their awareness.

I would welcome any suggested pointers for research particularly what imapcts are likely to our industry and specifically to construction.

Thanks in advance, for any advice

As a discussion point, what do members feel will be the likely impacts. I think personnaly that there will be an increase in positions for senior roles as safety managers and safety directors/directors designate, for obvious reasons? What are your thoughts

There is a PowerPoint on http://www.web-safety.com/Exchange/index.htm that deals with your request.

The PPT was produced when the draft bill was in circulation, which means you will have to consider the applicability of some of the slides, when compared with the present version of the proposed corporate manslaughter bill.

Bill,

The bill is unlikely to be passed until 2008.

I would just half inch the powerpoint presentation from the web, as the more I read about this bill the more I think it will be nothing more than a toothless tiger. The old boys network and all that!Politicians making the finer points of the legislation a mirky haze, just incase one of the directors of the companies that contribute to their funding should find themselves in the dock.

Personally I am being a bit devious and letting those on the board stay in the dark slightly and allowing them to pass rumours and half truths amoung themselves until they work themselves up into a frenzy!

Is that wrong?

Jason,

I don't think it is really wrong, so long as you don't start any of the rumours. Half-truths are something else. Letting senior management worry about their own personal pockets/liberty has always been a legitimate strategy.

But remember your role to "counsel and advise"

Note to Ciaran

I must point out that in no way did I intend to insight copyright theft!!!

I was unaware of any copyright for the material in question, which I have not seen. My advice was meant purely in the sense that if you can obtain information on this subject without spending hours on it yourself, when it seems to me to be inadequate anyway, then I would do so.

I should also point out something that Merv seemed to pick up on, which is that my thread although there is many a true word said in jest, was made tongue in cheek!

Thank You.

Many Thanks for the comments, and pointers I will continue my research, once I have completed my presentation I to will place on the exchange site Ciaran pointed me to.

I am a great beleiver in sharing the knowledge for all and the burden of the few.

It will be a sad world if we can't impart as much of our knowledge on others in the short time we are here. (sorry for getting deep)

Particulalry if we can educate those who can make a difference.

sincere thanks for the comments

Dave
