I was wondering if any of you other health & safety 'bods' out there could tell me if its worth doing this certificate and what sort of cost is it and how longs the training ?

I think it is worth doing. I'm doing it now. Its quite interesting. You will not have to do the management paper if you've passed a previous management paper in the last 5 years. i.e gen cert or construction cert. You can do it via e learning (tinternet Or the Interweb)through various sources. I'm using sheilds.

Does anyone know of other providers offering by distance learning other than Shields?

Go onto amazon and have a look at a book called the nebosh cert in fire safety and Risk management. The suppliers of this book due distance learning also (i think)

I would say that it was worth while if for nothing else as a proof of competency if required.

I didn't think training providers names were allowed to be mentioned on here but if they are RRC are very good and I will be starting their E learning NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management programme later this year.
