Posted By Smith1967 Hello all , I have just been infomred that the factory I work at will be closing in 2007. I have been offered a budget of £1000 to spend on any training I require. I have been an Occupational Health and Safety professional in manufacturing for over 5 years and have the following qualifications NTU Diploma Safety Health and Environment BSc Hons Quality Management HNC Quality Management Could anybody advise how I could utilise this training budget in order to maximise my chances of continuing to develope my career. I was think of a lead assessors course ? or a training qualification ? or maybe some construction qualification ? thanks in advance Dave

Posted By Smith1967 Cheers Bob However though £1000 sounds a lot it rings hollow when you are losing you job. I just hope that the 10 years of self subsidised part time education helps me find another job.

Posted By Tabs I agree with environment, but also consider business risk training.

Posted By Smith1967 Cheers for the responses so far , I do have the BOHS P405 Managing Asbestos at Work and I have experience in implementing and managing ISO14001:2004. I did think about a lead assessors course but wasnt sure that the ISO18001 seemed that good in comparison to the BSEN9000:2000. I do think I will go for a lead assessors course but I am not sure if it should be the Quality , Environment or Health and Safety version I would have thought that 90% of the course would be similar regardless of the discipline chosen..............but hey , who knows

Posted By Dannyc I think that once you have done one auditing course in one of the topics you can do a day conversion for each of the others and become compitent in all three. Personally I'd start with environmental, as I think there is a greater demand for 14001 auditors at the moment (most companies tend to have a full set of quality auditors).

Posted By Steve JB BSI Provide an OHSAS 18001 lead auditors course which might be worth a look. Think you might have to do an internal auditors course first though Steve
