This may or may not be a contentious issue however does anyone know where an individual legally stands regarding mail which is addressed to them, arrives at the company office and is opened by the admin staff prior to issuing to the addressee? Is it right that the company can open mail addresed to someone else?

My understanding is that all mail addressed to and arriving at company addresses can be opened by mailroom staff. That is unless it is marked appropriately i.e. private and confidential for attention of addressee only. etc.
