Has anyone got/know of anywhere I can get information on the considerations when working in temperatures of around -25 degrees. Information on maximum work time, health monitoring requirements etc. is what I'm looking for. Are there any Regs that specifically apply?

Thanks in advance.

It is a really Tin of worms when you delve into this subject.I worked at a Food Logistics site that had full time Freezer workers,I had several issues with this 'working area'.
The nearest I got with specific legisilation was France!, they have specific exposure regulations, and for some reason I could only ever cobble together bits from various Regulations in the UK and make a working plan from that.
I could Email you what I did if you like, its a bit too long for this forum.
PPE Regs are included as is 'Suitable and Sufficient' rest periods,in the States the Teamsters argued succesfully for travel times and changing times to be factored into Freezer Workers breaks. And then we have the ultimate enemy of Safe working, 'Job and Knock', if and when it is implemented, that way often leads to madness!

There are certain health conditions which are advised to avoid working in cold temperatures such as raynaulds and heart conditions. Most people carryout the relative health surveillance by occ health to ensure that employees are fit to work in the cold.

I suggest that anyone working in a cold storage facility should ensure that they wear a couple of extra layers of clothing, after all if they dont like the cold they should'nt have took the job.

stop all this pampering of employees.
