I have yet to see any adequate training-education programs [or offers of such events] via an employer that included adequate updates etc for H&S professionals although indepth programs for other areas are in place
All the HR etc that I have spoken to do not appear to have any thoughts for developing H&S professionals
I have always updated [& paid for things] myself
What have others done?

I've followed the same path as you Bob. Identified it, done it, paid for it myself

Bob
I have emailed you direct. A programme has been identified as what I found was the training & development for safety professionals was largely based around legislation and risk management, rather than influencing and internal consultancy skills.
Kind regards
Ian

pretty much the same as you bob, although whilst i was a safety rep (union appointed) i had some training from the company via the E.E.F. (coshh and risk assessments) and also did the TUC safety reps course all of which have been usefull.
with my present employer i have also done the appointed persons course for lifting operations.
