Hi All, My In-Laws have a small Off-Licence employing a couple of full-time and several part-time staff. They haven't had any official training at all. Are my In-Laws required by law to provide training? for manual handling etc?

Does the training have to be carried out by a recognised training body?

Could the training be done by a generic training video?

Any help and/or advice would be most welcome.

Thanks. Jools.

I'd suggest that your in-laws have a quick trawl on the HSE webiste, looking at topics such as manual handling and dispay screen equipment and first aid.

The level of training necessary will depend on what activities are being undertaken. There is a raft of guidance and free leaflets aimed at both employers and employees on the website.

Hope this helps

Thanks Calum, I'd already had a quick glance at the site but maybe i should have a more in depth look.
As employers they're just trying to find out what's legally required of them as a bare minimum so that they have a starting point to get everyone up to and to build from.
Jools.
