Posted By Chrisopher Gilbert In a lunch time hypothetical discussion H&S the subject of body odours came up. Can BO ever be a H&S issue and can it be tackeled without leaving yourself wide open to antidiscrimination actions? As a student of H&S I scratched my head a thought , I wonder if anyone on the ISOH chat forum knows anything about this. Thanks, Chris

Posted By Jeffrey Watt Funny how if it is to difficult for even Human Remains (HR) to deal with it ends up at our door.
Been there, told the managers to eff off and deal with it themselves. Farts are also not an H&S issue as long as the explosive limit ain't breached.
A few, repeat a few people have a genetic/hormonal anomaly which means that washing every morning and evening still does not stop the pong, but these folks are rare and would I imagine have seen their doctor before now and would be aware of their condition.

Posted By Steven I have dealt with this issue as a production manager and i have spoken to people about their personal hygiene and even sent agency workers away because of body odour.
If the problem came to me now as a H&S officer i would pass it onto management or HR

We have a bloke here -nicest bloke you could possibily wish to meet. He lives on a smallholding - lots of animals, much mucking out -you get my drift?
I don't hear well at all -sometimes I don't hear people coming, but I always know when this chap is around. Try to chat with him outdoors if at all possible though.
