Posted By CRN Baker On a course I attended, the trainer started off by asking everyone what their hobbies were e.g. football, rugby, gardening, picking up children / grandchildren, going to the cinema, golf, cooking &DIY. We were then told how many of our hobbies we wouldn't be able to do if we injured our backs. It brought home the realities of what you can't do if you've injured your back through bad manual handling practices. Imagine, not being able to pick up your child for a cuddle - surely one of the highlights of being a parent.
