We have electrical contractors contractors going out to work in Dublin.
Our client have specifically requested CSCS cards however our contractors have JIB cards which are apparently affiliated to the CSCS scheme and even bear the CSCS logo.
Our client is refusing to accept the JIB cards.
Does anyone have any experience of this or can offer any explanation of why this is, or is our client just being bloody-minded.
Regards
Mike

Ask them to advise which card they should have it they are plumbers.

ask them to look up the list of avaliable occupations under plumbers and tell you what it says.

FYI it says refer to Affiliates Scheme which is JIB or SJIB

There is no anyone V's anyone here they are they same thing unless we both have it wrong arrrrrrgggggggg the wonders of CSCS

This is part of a much larger issue and one which makes many think that we are bonkers jobs worth’s.

To get an idea of the bigger picture search this discussion archive for all years using each of the following key words individually.

CPCS
CSCS – yes there is a difference
CCNSG
ECITB
Passport
Safecontractor

You will then begin to get an idea of how many schemes there are out there. There are about 12 or more safety passport schemes and you need to remember that the CSCS card comes in different colours and for different trades.

Is it any wonder that there is confusion? Tell the man on the gate that if the plasic does not look like X then don’t let the contractor in.

I have experience of a customer not allowing an engineer on site to carry out warranty repair work to an inactive critical machine! They found a way round it when the site manager found out.

Good luck

Malcolm
