Posted By shaun cooper A client runs a very succesfull up and coming transfer station in the North West and wants to employ a security guard for non-operational periods. Other than a 'lone worker risk assessment' is there any other regs or legals he needs to comply with, any highlighted publications will help.

Posted By shaun mckeever He must be familiarised with site fire safety instructions and must have basic fire safety training i.e. what action to take on discovering a fire and on hearing the fire alarm. Any training given must be recorded.

Posted By andymak It could be easier if they came from a security company rather than were employed direct. If you employ a specialist company they should have generic loneworker documentation for their people, which can be amended for your particular site. Also by not employing directly you avoid any issues regarding SIA licensing as changes in legislation have placed additional responsibilities on companies who directly employ security personnel.
