Managing behaviour in a disparate supply chain

Posted By Ian G Hutchings I am re-posting this as the last post may have been missed due to people being on holiday.
I am writing a paper entitled 'Managing Behaviour in a Disparate Supply Chain', this is mainly related to the construction industry, but will refer to other industry examples.
I have a questionnaire I would like to discuss with any construction companies who have implemented or are considering implementing 'behavioural safety' approaches. The aim of the paper is to compare approaches, review what has been learnt from past research and to ask whether through focusing on behaviour in isolation we may miss opportunities to use more traditional risk management approaches and see safety as a programme or initiative, rather than just part of the way business is managed.
The aim is to publish this article in the S&HP magazine in early 2007.
If you are interested and would like to help please email me and I will give you a call at your convenience.
Many thanks
Ian Hutchings

Posted By Bob Youel rembember to include the fact that most people in the construction industry are self employed as are many in the 'white van' area quite unlike most industries
so behaviour change is quite a different task

Posted By Ian G Hutchings Thanks Bob
Yes, something being considered is the challenges of influencing a deep and varied supply chain. Also, a comparison of different techniques being used by different contractors and project management companies.
Kind regards
Ian
